When using sand and water children have fun, but also manipulative and pre-maths skills are developing through exploring and experimenting. Many children can express their emotions and feelings when playing with sand and water as well as finding it a very relaxing and soothing activity. Sand and water usually takes place spontaneously when the children are in the covered, outdoor play area.
